This is our 31st installment of the one-page dungeon series. The objective is to create self-contained adventures/dungeons with all things necessary to spawn fun adventures on a single page. It is system neutral so it can be easily ported to any system. It shouldn’t be much trouble to include it in any medieval setting.
In The Path of Pain, the characters travel to a long-forgotten dungeon. They find the means to magically travel to this place on a previous quest. Once there, stumble upon an ancient dungeon filled with deadly traps. As per the information they heard or know, the final chamber of the dungeon is packed with unreclaimed treasure. But to get there, they must cross the Path of Pain.
The many devices and booby traps are the reason for the name of the dungeon. It is believed that strong arcane circles consider pain to be the strongest path to obtaining power. And thus, through physical suffering, the heroes of this story shall challenge their minds and prove themselves worthy of the reward.
This is an adventure that takes the heroes to a deadly dungeon. They must make the best use of their abilities to make it out alive; the place is filled with traps and monsters. If they prove to be strong, the grandest of arcane treasures shall be theirs.
