This is our 40th installment of the one-page dungeon series. The objective is to create self-contained adventures/dungeons with all things necessary to spawn fun adventures on a single page. It is system neutral so it can be easily ported to any system. It shouldn’t be much trouble to include it in any medieval setting.
In A Call from Below, a strange extra-planar entity has burrowed its way into the crypt of a church. The ineffable being communicates mentally with the congregation. All of them have forcefully submitted to its nefarious will. The religious group now heeds the monster’s commands, prays to it in adoration, and even feeds it with voluntary sacrifices and hapless visitors. The authorities are concerned about the sudden disappearances…
This is an adventure where a group of brave sellswords interact with a hostile congregation trying to find out why the townsfolk and priest behave in such a strange manner. When they inevitably explore the crypt underneath, the characters shall finally encounter the obscure entity. Its head pierces the granite basement wall. While mostly immobile, the planar being’s psychic abilities are not to be underestimated. The heroes are in for a gruesome fight!
