In Matron of Ravens, the characters visit Brilshire, a city threatened by a dangerous fever. King Wened worries for the future of his subjects because the royal alchemists have failed to concoct a cure. The solstice approaches and everyone knows that the Crypt of White Raven’s entrance shall open for one day. Therein, an elusive deity known as the Matron of Ravens is said to provide wisdom, knowledge, and a glimpse of the future. King Wened commands the characters to visit this ancient shrine to find a way to heal Brilshire’s residents from the fever.
The characters, other pilgrims, and loyal members of the matron’s cult visit the crypt once it opens. The characters must deal, peacefully or with strength, with the strange cultists of this deity. They each have orders, allegedly given by the Matron of Ravens. They shall stall the characters as not all are to be allowed to the inner sanctum. In the search for information and wisdom, the characters learn that the matron has a predestined fate for all living things. Will the characters be a part of this destiny?
This adventure has been designed for Shadowdark RPG through their 3rd party license. The system is meant to be accessible to OSR players and modern players alike. Adapting the material to 5e or other systems should not be difficult.
