Map 26 – Willowbrook Estate

DON’T FORGET TO VISIT OUR MAP INDEX AND OUR PATREON FUNDING PAGE ! This is Willowbrook, an estate owned by the crown. Inside, there is a sanitarium that is permanent home for embarrassing cast-offs from families who wish their familial indiscretions to remain a secret. The drug addicted, by-products of incest, the incurably insane, and even those whose only transgression seems to be the living evidence of an unwanted pregnancy are kept hidden here from the inquiring eyes of high society. This map was privately commissioned for an upcoming Pathfinder module by Jason LeMaitre. It is a fantastic horror themed adventure with a very mature feel. Soon the module will be released. Apart from the upcoming module, this top-view map can be used for different circumstances too. A king might commission adventurers to explore the estate if it was abandoned years ago. Strange noises may have been heard inside the premises, requiring a team of valiant…

Map 25 – Tenebrous Shack

DON’T FORGET TO VISIT OUR MAP INDEX AND OUR PATREON FUNDING PAGE ! The townsfolk are very concerned over the disappearance of 3 children. Some nearby towns report similar facts. Some are missing children, some are missing sheep or other types of cattle. The farmers who live in the outskirts say they have heard a faint whistling sound, hours before dawn. There is an abandoned shack in the forest close to town that has been abandoned for years. The lumberjack who used to live there went away on an escort job, trying out the adventurer’s life. He never came back. In the past months a night hag found the place and decided to make it her lair. She refitted the basement and built a trap mechanism. There is a trap door in the first floor that she can activate pulling a rope from the basement.  The hag has a magical ocarina…

Map 24 – Forest’s Heart

DON’T FORGET TO VISIT OUR MAP INDEX AND OUR PATREON FUNDING PAGE ! Local myth talks about fantasy creatures that live at the center of the forest. They say it’s always been an enchanted place. And some stories talk about the heart of the forest, a fey-enchanted shrubs whose berries have magical and curatives qualities. The real backstory is unknown to most people. A powerful fey had it’s home at the center of the forest, more than 400 years ago. He passed away naturally, but his essence and spirit remained, becoming a protective shield for the forest. At the center a tree grew to enormous size; it’s trunk has a passage that goes deep into the earth, to a chamber that hides the magical shrub, which is the heart of the forest. Recently a band of orcs has been threatening the welfare of the forest, they are still far from the center, and…

Map 23 – Hidden Temple

DON’T FORGET TO VISIT OUR MAP INDEX AND OUR PATREON FUNDING PAGE ! This is map of an underground complex that was just recently discovered by coal miners by accident, after bringing down a section of a tunnel, an entrance was revealed. Three miners went inside and never returned. The person in charge of the mining operation then decided to send two more miners accompanied with 4 city guards, he paid them to do it, so it was like a “sellsword” gig for them. Again, they weren’t seen ever again. Now a local baron, the owner of the mine is offering a good reward to adventurers willing to explore and clear this underground complex so that he can continue mining. In reality, this is a forgotten temple and resting place of Ultzinna, a necromancer who entombed himself long ago in an arcane accident. He is in undead state (a lich maybe),…

Map 22 – Gauntlgrym (Forgotten Realm)

DON’T FORGET TO VISIT OUR MAP INDEX !! Forgotten Realms is one of the most used campaign settings in D&D and there are tons of content online about everything imaginable. Gauntlgrym was and has always been a bastion of dwarven civilization. It has changed hands many times and more than any other settlement, symbolizes dwarven pride and craftsmanship. It came to my attention while playing the Out of the Abyss campaign, that while there is enough information in the book about the city, there is no map of it. I looked online and found out that there is no official map for Gauntlgrym. So, using all the descriptive info in the OoTA guide, I drew this illustrative map of Gauntlgrym. It’s not meant to be accurate in dimensions or direction. More like a tourist’s sketch for visiting this amazing city. You can find this map in High Resolution PDF in my patreon…

Storm King’s Thunder – Session 3

The Heroes’ tale continues ! Follow Stu Stonewhisperer, Ulzu Linbin and Anastasia the Great Bear in their adventures trying to help the world fight the giants. Read the previous episode here, or go to the adventure’s index here. Session 3 – The Cloud Giant’s Tower Of all the things I always thought about doing, facing a giant and having a chat with him was, with no reserve, the most incredible and improbable of them all. I’ve been a witness of many things, I’ve seen lots of different places, met many people, but never, ever had I lived to tell how a giant welcomed us to his house, gave us a place to stay and offered to help us go to Bryn Shander. Zephyros wasn’t like the rest of the giants. He was calm and kind, he was a cloud giant. The Great Ordning had decided for cloud giants to be some of…

Out of the Abyss – Chapter 14 – The Labyrinth

The GUIDE index is here ! Very much like the Dark Lake, the Labyrinth is not a single place or “maze” but a gigantic region in the lowest reaches of the underdark. Because of its depth, It’s larger than the Wormwrithings. It is important to note that it’s not a two-dimensional plane, but rather a semi-spherical area, Which means that when the PC’s arrive, they enter the Labyrinth from its upper limits. When exploring it, they can move horizontally but also descend into the deepest parts of it. Many cities and forgotten realms have been buried and forgotten over Millennia  in this place. The PC’s could stumble upon unexplored dungeons or old cities during their travels through the Labyrinth.  The place is magically imbued in a way that disorients anyone who is inside (except minotaurs), similar to the Wormwrithings, there are countless caves and passages that seem to go everywhere and nowhere at…

Map 21 – Cult Temple

DON’T FORGET TO VISIT OUR MAP INDEX !! Here we have a multi-purpose underground dungeon temple. It can be easily adapted to many different scenarios, depending on the campaign setting. It could be a: cultist underground temple, an abandoned temple, a temple dedicated to an occult forgotten god, the hiding place of some thieves guild members…. The first chamber with the pillars can include bas-reliefs on the walls, depicting the appropriate mythology. The uppermost chamber I left empty, but can serve as a confession place or a chapel. Going down the stairs, there are two chests. They can be trapped, or intended for people to leave weapons behind, before entering the temple proper. Next there some alcoves with alters to different saints, angels or fiends (depending). There is a well surrounded by four gold plated statues. If appropriate, the statues can be activated with a pressure plate to attack any intruders. Or…

Map 20 – Aztec Pyramid

DON’T FORGET TO VISIT OUR MAP INDEX !! Aztec rulers were called tlatoanis (emperor or king equivalent), whenever they rose to prominency, were regarded as touched by the gods. They built spectacular pyramids that served as tombs. Sometimes they were mummified, sometimes just interred with their most valued belongings. Their closest servants and the bravest warriors, took their lives when the tlatoani died, so as to be buried with him in the pyramid, this was considered the highest honor. In death, aztecs were welcomed to the underworld by Mictlantecuhtli, a blood splattered skeleton and God of Death. Through Mictlantecuhtli, the power of the underworld poured into the material world, infusing the pyramid and the bodies buried in it with necromantic energy. Aztec mythology can easily be replaced with any other similar culture. As it is, this dungeon can be inserted in any campaign setting. It could even not be explained at all. An abandoned…
